Behind the stone paths and gardens of Hansen House lies a moving and extraordinary family story.

Beginning in 1964, Dr. Moshe Bar-Goldgraber served as a physician at the site and treated patients voluntarily, until the development of an antibiotic cocktail that marked a breakthrough in the treatment of the disease. During those years, the Doctor’s House (now home to the Mishk Ofaim café and shop) became the private residence of him and his family.

His daughter, Rivka Gita Regev, grew up within the complex. To this day, she carries with her photographs, drawings, and memories from that time. Last year, Regev published her book, My Wanderings in the Gardens: The Legacy of Hansen House in Jerusalem, which tells the story of the site from a personal and unique perspective.
