This is the fourth year of the Outline Festival, celebrating illustration and the written word. In the festival, illustration – generally found today in children’s literature or magazines – receives its due place in the spotlight. Stories and words, which appear primarily in print, emerge from the pages and are displayed to the public. For an entire week of exhibitions and art events, open to the general public, we will explore the relationship between the image and the written word.
Dozens of participants partake in the festivities, celebrating the written and visual languages: illustrators, animators, poets, and storytellers. There will be fourteen different exhibitions on display for the duration of the festival, as well as a variety of events held in galleries, museums, exhibition spaces, and cultural institutions throughout the city.
The Outline Festival is produced by Beita – the Department of Visual Arts in the Municipality of Jerusalem’s Arts and Culture Division, in cooperation with the municipality’s Youth Division and the Jerusalem Foundation.
